Living room and kitchen. White walls, herringbone oak, black steel and the brick.

The evening at door 1A.

Old Riga has a bar on every corner. But after a day on the cobblestones, a family with a sleeping child or a couple with an early flight wants a drink without putting their shoes back on.

The apartment had a kitchen guests actually use, a coffee machine, and nothing to sell. Asking the host for anything meant a message, a wait and a bank transfer nobody wanted to make.

One machine, one box, one sticker.

  1. Machine

A Bartesian on the kitchen counter. Guests pour their own spirit into its bottle; the capsule decides the cocktail and pours it in about 30 seconds.

  2. Capsules

Margarita, Hurricane, Whiskey Sour and Uptown Rock in a box beside the machine, €6.60 a capsule. Without a spirit, each one pours zero proof.

  3. Sticker

VAG-12-1A on the machine opens the Wagner12 menu. No app, no login. The guest picks, pays and pours.

  4. Dashboard

The host sees every capsule sold, which ones are running low, and what is owed at the end of the month.

Riharda Vāgnera iela in Old Riga: cobblestones, a pale facade and the iron courtyard gate of number 12

Named after the street, made for the evening.

Richard Wagner conducted at the city theatre at number 4 from 1837 to 1839 and walked this street to work. The apartment took the street’s name. The menu is made for the hour after dinner: from the sofa, a few steps from the machine.

The menu wears the apartment’s colour.

The only colour in Wagner12 that is not brick is a yellow mirror. So the guest menu is black steel and plaster, with that yellow on every button. Your menu takes your colours, your name and your language; SipSmart stays in the footer.

What is in place, and what is not yet

In place

The live menu on sticker VAG-12-1A: four capsules at €6.60, stock read from SipSmart, payment through Stripe. The extras and their prices are still examples.

Not yet

Numbers. Sales figures from the first months will be published here once there are enough of them to mean something.
